In October 2019, Focus Point launched World Sight Day 2019 campaign – “Vision First”, a holistic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign aimed at advocating eye and vision care amidst rising vision impairment and eye problem incidences among school children and young adults in the country.

World Sight Day 2019 was officially launched on 11th October, graced by our Guest of Honour, Datuk Seri Garry Chua, president of MRCA and together with Dato’ Liaw, President & CEO of Focus Point Holdings Berhad.

World Sight Day 2019 was held in Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre from 7th to 13th October 2019. The roadshow allows for Malaysians to understand the importance of taking care of their eyes through activities, talks and one on one sessions with eye care professionals who were on site to conduct eye-check and advice on best practices to properly care for their sight.

We had a few sharing sessions by professionals during the weekend. On 12th October, we had Ms Hannah Ng of Essilor Malaysia to share about “Simple and Effective Myopia Management” and Ms Linsay Sundram of Johnson & Johnson Vision to share about “Harmful UV: How do you protect your eyes?”. On 13th October, we have Prof Datuk Dr Rokiah Omar of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia to share about “Myopia and how do we deal with it?” and Dr Manoharan Shunmugam of OasisEye Specialists to share about “Diabetes Related Eye Diseases”.

Not only that, there were other on-ground activities such as Kids Drawing Competition, fun games, great deals and offers for eyewear!
